Palo Alto Firewall Specialist – Contract

Location: Remote (Contractor needs to be in the UK)

Contract Length: 3–6 months initial term (extendable)

Day Rate: Market rate (dependent on experience and certifications)

Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Palo Alto Firewall Specialist to support a client project involving a full review and remediation of their existing firewall infrastructure. This is an end-to-end engagement, covering architecture review, design recommendations, and hands-on implementation.

The successful consultant will play a key role in migrating from Cisco ASA firewalls to Palo Alto, optimising VPN performance, and ensuring the environment is fit-for-purpose moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and remediate existing Palo Alto PA-Series deployment with Panorama
• Lead migration from Cisco ASA firewalls to Palo Alto, including configuration mapping and cutover
• Troubleshoot and optimise GlobalProtect VPN performance
• Provide architecture recommendations aligned to best practice
• Deliver hands-on remediation and implementation work
• Produce documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven experience with Palo Alto firewalls (PA-Series) and Panorama
• Strong background in firewall migrations, particularly Cisco ASA → Palo Alto
• Deep knowledge of VPNs (GlobalProtect) and troubleshooting complex issues
• Ability to work across the full project lifecycle: review → recommendations → implementation
• Certifications: PCNSE strongly preferred (PCNSA considered)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders
